Before You Begin
When I first made the decision to follow a raw food diet, I wasnt sure where to begin. I understood the basics of the diet and was excited for all of the benefits I was likely to receive, but there wasnt a clear starting point. Having enjoyed the raw food diet for a long time, now, I have some tips for helping you to get started in your own journey.
Before you begin actually following the diet, make a list of all the raw foods you love to eat include fresh fruits and vegetables on the list as well as nuts, seeds and healthy fats. It might also help you to keep a food journal for a week so you can keep track of the foods you eat on a regular basis.
Your list might look something like this:
Fruits: Vegetables: Fats:
Bananas Broccoli Walnuts
Strawberries Zucchini Avocado
Mango Carrots Pistachios
Oranges Eggplant Sunflower Seeds
Pineapple Spinach Almonds
Apples Tomatoes Pecans
Now that you have a list of the foods you love, start to incorporate them into your diet more frequently. Dont drop all non-raw foods from your diet at first you will find it easier to stick to the diet in the long run if you make the transition slowly.
Try incorporating raw juice into your morning routine or have some fruit as a snack in the afternoon instead of potato chips. Before you know it, it will become a habit to eat raw foods!
